Hello from a cloudy but trying Midhurst.

This week I am trialing some new opening hours at the shop~ just trying to juggle life’s many balls & still open as often as I can.

It feels odd starting my shop week on a Wednesday, I can guarantee I won’t know which way is up by Friday!

If you fancy visiting this week, here’s what I’m up to:

Wednesday- Saturday open 10.30-4pm

What’s your lucky number?

I bought this beautifully hand painted set of wooden balls a little while ago.

I had no idea what the game was called, but I thought they were just too pretty to leave behind.

Some lovely customers have just informed me that they are historic gambling balls, known as ‘Teetotum Gambling’ balls- who knew!

Can you shed any more light? How on earth do you use them?

Customers were out & everyone was in fine fettle.

I really enjoyed pulling together my Easter window, adding new stock & generally getting everything ship-shape for the weekend.

Yesterday I was thrilled to take delivery of my new limited edition candles by the very lovely & talented Katy from @earleyanddaughters

The shop is filled with the delicious scent of ‘Awaken’ which features notes of freesia, magnolia & pear.

Deciding on a collaboration is something I take very seriously, I only want to bring brands into my shop that I personally love and feel I have a synergy with.

Katy’s passion for her candles, the quality of the product and her ethics make this the perfect partnership.

So I’m very excited to bring this limited edition of Tams Pottery candles to you and hope you love them as much as I do.

In my newsletter today we talked about colour blocking with antiques for maximum impact.

I also shared that this Victorian enamel foot bath may resemble a giant blancmange, but it is in fact one of my favourite finds of the year so far.

Anyway, as Spring has forgotten herself momentarily, I thought some blossom would be cheering.

The sun is shining…..

Probably my biggest stock drop since opening. Huge delivery of gorgeous new things into the shop this morning.

At one point I swear I was balancing a chest of drawers on my shoulders!

All part of the fun & besides finding these beautiful pieces in the first place, it’s one of the things I love most about my job.

Lots of gorgeous customers in already today & the new collections are going down well ~ especially all the pretty pinks.

As ever, please don’t be afraid to ask for details~ it’s what I’m here for & it’s not a problem if you decide to pass.

I can’t believe how much they’ve grown in such a short time.

Funnily enough, my firstborn has just left the house for his first day of part-time work.

Buds & Blooms….. It was such an honour to be invi

Buds & Blooms…..

It was such an honour to be invited to take part in the monthly meeting of the lovely Midhurst Buds and Bloom Society yesterday.

The beautiful old library in Midhurst was filled with colourful flowers, delicious homemade cakes and much friendly chatter.

The very talented Jessie from @jessieandersonstudio held us all captivated as she demonstrated ideas on how to use spring flowers- what a joy to see such bursts of colour!

Jessie also shared some incredibly useful insider tips & tricks, which I will certainly be trying at home.

Founder MaryAnn from @circusmidhurst had kindly invited me to bring some floral & garden inspired pieces for the members to browse through.

Thank you to all who bought something & have promised to cone & visit my shop in West Street.~ I look forward to welcoming you.

My thanks go to Colleen, Catherine, Jane & Tom for looking after me on the day.

Heartfelt thanks to MaryAnn for inviting me & for the very warm welcome to Midhurst life.
