She was written in the stars…..

When I bought Babushka here back in April, I had no idea what I would do with a giant papier mache Russian doll…I had no idea that I would have a shop in time for Christmas either.

And yet it was as though she was meant to be.

Babs has caused quite a stir in Midhurst, literally stopping people in their tracks, with lots taking photos of her too.

It almost breaks my heart to part with her (& I say this at a whisper for fear of offending her), but perhaps she might be available for someone else’s dream Christmas window next year?

Make a wish…..

Can you imagine how many generations of French families have made wishes as they have stirred their hearts out over this beautiful old bunt?

I can almost hear the wooden spoon sloshing through fragrant batter as eyes were tightly closed & all manner of heart’s desires were hoped & prayed for.

This grand dame is too fragile to be popped into a hot oven now, but she holds echos of all those wishes past.

It was such a marvellous day in Midhurst yesterday, the town was packed & the atmosphere was amazing.

I came in early this morning to restock & move things around.

Elise @whitedoorbrocante told me off for not doing more videos of the shop, so here you are~ this one’s for you Elise 🥰

Hello & welcome….. It’s been a while & with a flu

Hello & welcome…..

It’s been a while & with a flurry of new followers I thought I’d best update the mug shot & welcome you all to my page.

My name is Lottie, I live in a 300 year old cottage in Rotherwick, Hampshire with Mr G, 3 teens (1 set of twins) & Betsy the miniature schnauzer.

This picture was taken in October 2025 on the opening day of my much dreamed of shop (hence the big grin), which is in the pretty West Sussex town of Midhurst.

My love of vintage goes back years & years & I follow in the footsteps of my much missed darling & very entrepreneurial dealer mother.

Having trod the brocante boards for years, I’m so excited to now have a permanent base for my collection of vintage home & garden pieces.

But I do love to roam the country, so I’m sure I’ll be setting up at my favourite fairs next year too.

My favourite colour is green~ my home is drenched in it. I often can’t bear to part with some of the gorgeous things I’m meant to sell~ so suffice to say minimalist I’m not!

I am a passionate, bumbling, novice, mistake-making gardener~ but my cottage garden is my sanctuary ~ I love her & she forgives & grounds me.

I am also an Endo girl so try to keep my health in check with lots of long walks, stress management (🤔) & healthy eating habits~ I regularly fail & indulge my love of good chocolate & red wine but hey nobody’s perfect!

Midhurst is filled with independent shops & restaurants, there’s also the famous ruined Cowdray Castle within walking distance of the town centre.

There is lots of free parking on the roads in Midhurst & The Grange Road car park costs approximately £3.50 for the entire day!

I'll be clearing my storage unit to make way for the new season.

If you haven't been to Chawton before, there's the Jane Austen House Museum, Chawton House & Gardens, pretty walks, tearooms...lot's to make a lovely day out.

The Attic Sale is taking place at The Village Hall in the centre of the village.

H is for Home….. It’s been a hectic few weeks & I

H is for Home…..

It’s been a hectic few weeks & I’m very much enjoying spending a few days at home.

I had a wonderful time at Loseley Park with @asfairs & met so many lovely people there.

A four day fair (with set up) is quite gruelling if enormously rewarding, so a few days of pottering about are what I crave.

We have birthday twins this week, so I’m loving being home with my gorgeous girls too.

Tomorrow it’s back on it though with new stock to collect, a van to sort & treasures to ticket ready for @midhurstbrocante on Saturday.
