My house has 3 teens with 3 different college timetables & I have spent the week running a shuttle service to the train station & back.

I fear its’s only a matter of time before I drop a ball or 3!

It’s also been filled with art materials, a burgeoning fabric stash & that’s just since it’s been in my ownership.

I’d love to hear how you prepare for Autumn….

Here are a few of my tried & tested ways to embrace the cosy season.

~The chimney sweep is booked (Btw did you know that you should have an annual certificate for your house insurance in case of fire?)

~The log store is full & neatly stacked & we’re all looking forward to the first fire of the season.

~ Summer clothes have been packed away & out come the winter woolies & cosy layers.

~Lightweight cotton & linen cushion covers have been laundered & put away. Textured, heavier replacements are now offering a cosy place to curl up.

~ Throws & blankets aired in the late August sun have begun to appear on the backs of chairs & sofas just ready for chilly nights.

~ Summer shells & pastel colours have been swapped out from the shop to make way for all the warm colours I have been squirrelling away throughout the year.

~ Twigs, conkers & cones start appearing in great bowlfuls on nearly every surface, nestled alongside a multitude of candles.

~ This years handmade fabric pumpkins are waiting in the wings to make an appearance so do keep an eye out for their arrival.

~ Christmas stock has all been ordered & I am eagerly anticipating delivery of some beautiful pieces.

~ And perhaps one of my favourites ~ next years diary insert has been ordered (I can’t help it, it’s that back to school/new stationery habit!)

This grand old sign has seen many a seaside season….queues of sandy toes & gripped pennies & now she is looking for a restful retirement home.

Summer may be drawing to a close, but those sunshine days can live on with this worn & wonderful reminder of Augusts gone by.

My heart skipped a beat when I discovered this beautiful pink cupboard on a recent trip.

If ‘chippy’ ever needed a definition this is it.

Shelved within so an incredible useful piece.

Is anyone else very drawn to this neutral palette at the moment….perhaps it’s the parched-paper fields & parks which surround us as summer draws to a close?

Something about these unusual flower frogs reminds me of the school nature table~ perfect for displaying bits & bobs picked up on late August walks.

Have you got a George? When I discovered this ama

Have you got a George?

When I discovered this amazing large ironstone bowl, it was rather grubby as it had been used as a planter.

I immediately thought of a gorgeous utility or boot room with a black lab called George~ wouldn’t this make a fabulous water bowl?

Step forward my little Miss B, who did her best Labrador impersonation!

Heavy, durable glazed ironstone bowls like this were standard equipment in scientific laboratories, pharmacies, and school chemistry labs across the UK and as such this piece is highly collectible.

Of course you don’t need to have a science lab, George, nor a Labrador…this huge bowl would look wonderful on a kitchen counter filled with herbs or fruit.

Hello & welcome….. It’s been a while & with a flu

Hello & welcome…..

It’s been a while & with a flurry of new followers I thought I’d best update the mug shot & welcome you all to my page.

My name is Lottie, I live in a 300 year old cottage in Rotherwick, Hampshire with Mr G, 3 teens (1 set of twins) & Betsy the miniature schnauzer.

This picture was taken in October 2025 on the opening day of my much dreamed of shop (hence the big grin), which is in the pretty West Sussex town of Midhurst.

My love of vintage goes back years & years & I follow in the footsteps of my much missed darling & very entrepreneurial dealer mother.

Having trod the brocante boards for years, I’m so excited to now have a permanent base for my collection of vintage home & garden pieces.

But I do love to roam the country, so I’m sure I’ll be setting up at my favourite fairs next year too.

My favourite colour is green~ my home is drenched in it. I often can’t bear to part with some of the gorgeous things I’m meant to sell~ so suffice to say minimalist I’m not!

I am a passionate, bumbling, novice, mistake-making gardener~ but my cottage garden is my sanctuary ~ I love her & she forgives & grounds me.

I am also an Endo girl so try to keep my health in check with lots of long walks, stress management (🤔) & healthy eating habits~ I regularly fail & indulge my love of good chocolate & red wine but hey nobody’s perfect!

Midhurst is filled with independent shops & restaurants, there’s also the famous ruined Cowdray Castle within walking distance of the town centre.

There is lots of free parking on the roads in Midhurst & The Grange Road car park costs approximately £3.50 for the entire day!

Pieces like this give me such a sense of nostalgia… memories of perching up at my granny’s scrubbed pine table with a tea towel tied over my dress & a wooden spoon in hand.

You know it’s been a successful antique buying trip when….

1. You can’t wait to unpack & see those gorgeous pieces again

3. You have to leave your kids behind because the car is full!

Anyway, an entire car load is being cleaned, checked, repaired, researched & made ready to take to the shop~ there’s a large floor move on the horizon, which is one of my favourite parts of this job.

Imagine carefully starched white linens, beeswax candles & incense stacked within.
